British jazz quartet Lydian Collective have finally returned with a new single. ‘Decimal’ is the band’s first since their acclaimed second album, Return. It continues to build on the sound they first explored on their debut, Adventure, back in 2018 - an amazingly groovy, smooth take on modern jazz, interspersed with electronic textures and the influence of various world music styles, both in terms of rhythmic patterns and scales experimented with. Beneath the whirlwind of carefully crafted melodic interplay and improvisation, sits the astonishingly tight drumming of Sophie Alloway, whose crisp performance always matches the action above. Hopefully we’ll hear more from this fantastic band later this year.  -Dan Peeke
